SCS SB 407 -- SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE SPONSOR: Dougherty (Hilgemann) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 9 to 0. This substitute allows members of the Missouri Botanical Garden and of the St. Louis, Kansas City, or Springfield zoo to obtain a special license plate bearing the emblem of the garden or respective zoo. To obtain a plate, an emblem-use authorization statement must be obtained from the garden or zoo (with a $35 contribution) and presented to the Department of Revenue along with payment of any fees and documents required by law. Any contribution to the garden or zoo derived from authorization statements, less administrative costs, will be used solely for the purposes of the garden or zoo. FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Net Income to Highway Funds of $17,707 in FY 2002, $50,063 in FY 2003, and $50,063 in FY 2004. PROPONENTS: Supporters say these plates should be available to members of the respective organizations. Testifying for the bill was Senator Dougherty.
